Molasses Sharing Ratio

Molasses Sharing Ratio

To ensure the fair and regulated distribution of molasses, the AFA-Sugar Directorate has established guidelines that allocate the annual production of molasses to various sectors based on specific needs and uses. These guidelines are designed to balance the supply between industrial use and other applications.

Molasses Sharing Ratio:

  1. Allocation to Industrial Distillers and Processors:

    • 60% of the total annual molasses produced is allocated to industrial distillers and processors. This allocation supports industries involved in the production of alcohol, ethanol, and other chemical processes where molasses is a key raw material.
  2. Allocation to Farmers, Distributors, Animal Feed Manufacturers, Confectioners, and Exporters:

    • 40% of the total annual molasses produced is allocated to farmers, distributors, animal feed manufacturers, confectioners, and exporters. This allocation ensures that there is enough molasses for agricultural uses, animal feed production, food manufacturing, and export purposes.

Guidelines for Distribution and Monitoring:

  • The sharing ratio is not fixed and is subject to review as circumstances and industry needs change. This flexibility allows the Sugar Directorate to adjust allocations in response to market demands, production levels, and other relevant factors.

  • The distribution and sharing of molasses are regulated and monitored by the Sugar Directorate in collaboration with relevant agencies. This oversight ensures that the molasses is distributed according to the guidelines and that all stakeholders adhere to the established regulations.
