Exciting news for all sugar industry stakeholders! The Agriculture and Food Authority – Sugar Directorate has just released the April 2024 edition of its monthly newsletter. This detailed report covers everything from local sugar production and pricing to international trade and the global market outlook for January to April 2023 and 2024.
Local Sugar Market:
- Ex-factory Sugar Prices: Slight drop of 1% to Ksh 5,739 per 50 kg bag from March’s Ksh 5,784.
- Wholesale Sugar Prices: Increased by 6% to Ksh 6,231 per 50kg bag.
- Retail Sugar Prices: Averaged Ksh 165 per kilo, down from Ksh 169 in March.
Foreign Trade:
- Sugar Imports: Totaled 35,763 MT in April, an 8% decrease from March.
- CIF Value: Imported White Refined Sugar averaged Kshs 87,524/tonne, slightly higher than Mill White/Brown sugar at Kshs 86,437/tonne.
World Sugar Market Global Sugar Outlook: The newsletter also provides a comprehensive analysis of the global sugar market trends and forecasts, offering valuable insights for future planning.
