The Kenya Sugar Board has opened the Call for Speakers for the 5th Sugar Industry Innovation Symposium & Expo — TUJENGE 2026 Edition, inviting industry leaders, practitioners, researchers, innovators and subject-matter experts to contribute to the conversations shaping the future of the sugar industry.
Scheduled for 8–10 December 2026 at the Grand Royal Swiss Hotel in Kisumu, TUJENGE 2026 will once again bring together stakeholders from across the sugar value chain for three days of knowledge exchange, innovation, networking and business engagement.
As Africa’s largest sugar industry gathering, the Symposium provides a unique platform for experts to share practical experiences, emerging ideas, research and solutions with an audience drawn from Kenya, the region and the wider international sugar community.
Who Should Apply?
The Call for Speakers is intended for individuals with knowledge and experience that can contribute meaningfully to the industry’s development.
This includes professionals working across sugarcane production, milling and processing, research, engineering, mechanisation, technology, finance, energy, sustainability, logistics, markets, policy and other areas connected to the sugar value chain.
TUJENGE also welcomes perspectives from disciplines that are increasingly influencing the future of the industry.
Developments in areas such as artificial intelligence, precision agriculture, biotechnology, renewable energy, automation, data analytics, waste valorisation and the circular economy are creating new possibilities for how sugarcane is grown, processed and utilised.
Experts working in these and related fields are encouraged to consider how their knowledge and experience could contribute to the industry’s growth and efficiency.
Practical Knowledge for a Changing Industry
The theme for this year’s Symposium is TUJENGE — “Towards Undertaking the Journey to Entrench and Nurture Growth and Efficiency.”
At the heart of that theme is the recognition that building a more productive and competitive sugar industry requires practical solutions as well as informed discussion.
The Symposium is therefore particularly interested in speakers who can bring real experience, evidence, lessons and applicable ideas to the conversation.
This could include lessons from successfully implementing a new technology, findings from research with implications for the industry, experiences in improving agricultural or factory efficiency, new approaches to value addition, or insights gained from addressing challenges elsewhere that could be relevant to Kenya and the wider African sugar industry.
